Reciprocating Air Compressors

Piston Compressor

A reciprocating air compressor is a device that uses pistons in order to create gases at a very high pressure. The pistons are supported by a crankshaft. Basically, the gas enters through a suction mechanism and goes into the compression cylinder. Once there, the gas is compressed by a reciprocating motion of the pistons, then discharged under high pressure. The goal here is to reduce the volume of the gas and increase the density of the same gas. Reciprocating air compressors are also known as piston compressors, and they are one of the most common types of compressors used today.
